RUMOURED SUSPENSION OF WORKS IN CALEDONIAN MAIN LEVEL.
GRAHAMSTOWN.

There is no fresh news from Ohinemuri. The " Advertiser " pigeons are to arrive this evening with despatches. Tbe JPumping Association works are progressing splendidly, but there being 71 feet of water above the 400 feet level, and 60 feet in the shaft under it, and all workings full, it will be some time before it is cleared out. g. The Golden Calf crushed specimens to-day and made a fine show of amalgam. Tbe return will be excellent.
Tbe Long Drive gold, melted, weighed 133 ozs. 11 dwts.
The Alburnia has 194 ozs. 5 dwts. A survey is being held to-day of the new reefs in the Vanguard workings to determine its strike and bearings as regards adjoining reefs. The lode is thick and looks promising.
It is rumoured that all works in tbe main level of the Caledonian and Albion mines will be suspended, as the five drives have now reached the boundaries, 1600 feet of driving performed and no payable quartz struck.
At the Police Court to-day the assault case Graham v. Sehofield broke down, as it was shown the Court had no jurisdiction. Tbe case arose between tbe tributers, the plaintiff asserting his right to remain a shareholder which tbe defendant denied, and knocked, him down. Plaintiff had to pay costs.
