UNITED STATES DINING ROOMS.
■THE large and commodious premises in ■Len-screet, known as the United States ■Ling Booms, was opened to-day by Mr Inward Darby, who has spared no expense ■jj{he renovation of the house and premises. Ifj,e contractor, under whose immediate ■ spervision the change has been effected, was Ijlr Jobn Henderson, of Queen-street, and ito has displayed much taste in the decorajj OD s and other features of Mr Darby's jjpiog-rooms, which has apparently suffered \/na inattention. The house throughout has a air of cleanliness and comfort about it, ud we learn that the enterprising proprietor jjj resolved that the I nited States l>i lijug-rooms shall be second to no othei limilar establishment in Auckland. Tbe jflund floor is spacious, with bar Jji kitchen, and dining-room, capable ( [ accommodating at lea3t sixty persons ,j a time. The kitchen has a spl3ng range, with every other convenience for providing for visitors, on a large scale tothe first floor, which is large and airy. iere is a set of twenty double-bedded keeping rooms ; and on the upper story are thirty single sleeping apartment s, smaller iv jimensions, but all alike furnished with new beds, bedding, chairs, ■washstands, and every jtler necessary. There are also outer apartments of larger space, where lodgers may ibo perform their ablutions with greater freedom. There is also, a backyard, ad breezy outlook at the side of the house facing St. Paul's, with jEmpses of the water and adjacent icenery. We trust that Mr Darby, who, in In great outlay and good taste has studied fte public good, will in return meet a fair ike of public support.
