A w capital wicket has been selected, and the game has just commenced. Strange to say nearly all the competitors are present The day fine and the gardens look more sublime than ever. The attraction of the match, the foot-race, and the sale proved sufficient to bring out a whole lot of people who appeared to enjoy themselves very much.
3.10 p m." Buckland and Rees tossed for choice of innings. The former won, and elected that. Auckland should go in first, and without loss of time, Davies and Garland took the bat to the bowling of C. Dacre, from the pavilion end, and Caldwell from the other. Davies soon began to score, and tho cricket at once became very lively. At 3 o'clock the game stood— Davies, not out 10 Garland, not out ... ... ... 4 Byes 2
3.30 p.m. Davies, after playing well for 18, was caught by Swanson at mid-off one wicket for 32 runs. Cotton next man. Swanson bowling instead of Caldwell, and Rees vice Dacre. 3.45 p.m. Davies, c Swanson, b Rees ... ... IS Garland, c Ryan, b Rees ... ... 23 Cotton, b Rees ... ... ... 3 Buckland, b Rees ... ... ... 0 Blunden c Swanson, b Rees... ... 2 T. Philson b 1 White and J. Philson in. Wides 3. Total 6 wickets for 50 runs. The following have entered for quarters mile flat race :—O'Hare and Donovan (10 yards penalty), McDonald, Kerr, and Kelly. 4 p.m. The race terminated as follows.: —Donovan, 1 ; Kelly, 2 ; O'Hare, 3. Won by five yards. Ihe race created considerable interest. Mrs Whitaker presented the prizes. 4.30 p.m.f? At the land sale by Mr B. Tonks, lot S4 was sold to Mr Avey at lis tier foot; others passed.
