LAUNCESTON.
A scoundrel named John B. Bomfort has been committed for trial for assaulting a woman, by dabbing whitewash in her eyes. Thomas Eichard Furlong, one of Hobart Town's oldest settlers, known by the soubriant of Garibaldi, died on the 17th inst. ; aged 78 ; much regretted. There is a long orbituary notice in the Mercury.
