The barque Union, after having been signalled all yesterday afternoon and this morning, arrived in harbour this afternoon with a cargo of Greta coal from Newcastle for Messrs. Stone Brothers. Captain Sherlock has forwarded to U3 the following report: — Cleared Newcastle on the 14th of November at 9 a.m., with a fresh north-easter; the wind continued easterly until the 20th, since which north and north-wesb winds have prevailed, with much thunder, lightning, and rain till passing the Three Kings. Bounded the North Cape at 9 a.m. on the 24th, carrying fine weather and westerly winds down the coast.
The Cyphrenes is expected from San FranBisco in about a fortnight's time, is advertised to leave six hours after arrival for Melbourne, Queensland Ports, and Palinei dig-
gings The s.s. Star of the South left Dunedin for Napier, Auckland, and Fijis on Tuesday last.
The p.s. Luna arrived at nine o'clock this morning from Wellington. Passengers from Wellington :—Mr Gavin, Hugh Pollen, C. J. O. Self, Captain Fergcsson and three servants, Miss Bridgen.—From Taranaki—Miss Humphries, Mrs Hetley, Mr* Govett. Messrs Butcher, Winstone, and Craig between them have taken the contract for supplying 600 tons of ballast to the Hvdnspes. A score or two cartloads of scoria have been taken down to the big ship to-day. The Queen, schooner, was purchased today, by Messrs Lewis Bros., from Captain Veale, for £950. The barques Harriett Armitage and Wm. Gifford are both discharging their cargoes in excellent condition.
The barque Stanley Castle would have got away from the wharf to-day a full ship, but owing to the interruption caused by having to move off to make way for the Mikado — unnecessarily as it turned out —the completion of her loading was protracted till this afternoon. She will haul away, and probably sail for New York to-morrow.
It will be seen by our London cablegrams, recived by the Mikado, that the barque Hyltoa. Castle, Captain Scott, which left here on the 6th August, had arrived in London on the 14th November, after a good passage of just under one hundred days.
