MASONIC HALL IN AUCKLAND.
It has long been a reflection on the Masons of Auckland, that the body possesses no ball for the holding of meetings aud for other Masonic purposes. The subject has frequently been agitated but owing to one cause and another, the various steps taken have never culminated in any definite action for supplying the want, until within the pant few weeks. A conference of delegates from the various Auckland lodges was, however, recently decided upon, and in pursance of this determination the delegates met at the Masonic Hotel last evening, at haf-past seven o'clock. There were theo present the following delegates : — Lodge Ara : Bros G. P. Fierce. P G.M. ; G. H Layers, W.M. ; W. W. Robinson, S.W. Lodge St. Andrews : M. Niccol, W.M. ; E. B Dickson, S.N. United Service ; W. W. Batt, W.M. ;J. H. Burns, jun., Lodge v» aitemata : W. R. Hay ward, W.M. ; Y. Warren and H. S. Meyers. Lodge Prince of Wales : G N. Brassy, W.M. ; W H. Skinner, S.W.; F. G Clayton, J.W. Mark Masters Lodge : A. Fleming, J. James, H. G Wade. Royal Arch Chapter: C. A. Harris, W. Lodder. Bro G. P. Pierce was vote ito the chair. Bro Brassey, the secretary pro tern., read the minutes of the preliminary meeting of W.MS., held on the 20th instant. After a long discussion, it was resolved tbat a Committee be formed of the different W.M.S., to recommend a sifr-, and to bring up a report at next meeting, as to the probable cost of a suitable building. After a vote of thanks to the chairman, they adjourned to the Bth December. It is satisfactory to know that there is now a fair prospect of a Masonic Hall being erected in our city, and we have no d<>ut;t that the Order will erect a temple worthy of its name and influence.
