Niccol, agent Respecting the salvage claim for £13,000 for services alleged to have been rendered to B the barque Scbiehallion by the s.s. Maori, at Lyttelton harbour, in September, 1873, we learn that the barque arrived in the London j Docks on Thursday, the 18th December, 1873, and was arrested by the Marshal of ihe Court of Admiralty. Bail was given for the ; amount in which the suit was instituted, and I tbe ship and cargo released. A commission ! has been tent to Christchurch to examine | 1 James Fotheringham, of the Heath cote, \ brickmaker; George M'Kay, of Lyttelton, : shipping agent; and Edward Norris, pilot at the port, before C. C. Bowen, Esq., one of the i 'ommissioners appointed under the comI mission. The ship Waitangi was berthed at the ; wharf this morning. She occupies the billet I 1 outside the western T, lately occupied by the 1 J Ferndale. The William Gifford barque has been moored on the west side of the wharf, where ] she will discharge her cargo.
