DESPERATE AFFRAY.
JNAshvtmjs, Term., October 10. — The ■Banner has a long account of a desperate attray between a coloured preacher named Joe Ranages and Dr. Shy, at the house of latter near Franklintown. It seems that an attempt was made to burn Shy's residence, and a reward was offered by Governor Brown for the arrest of the incendary. A negro detective, disguised as a workman, discovered that a plan had been formed to kill Dr Shy and wife. He then notified the intended victims, and when Ravages appeared Dr Shy met him, and a terrible encounter followed, resulting insthe death of the negro. Shy was slightly wounded. •■—.-,.
