SPORTS ON THE ISLAND.
(PER STAR CARRIER PIGEONS.)
Motuihi, Monday, noon. There are no fresh cases of contagious disease. . . , The patient Slyfield is convalescent. The racecourse is laid out and gorgeously C decorated for the sports this afternoon. A grand stand has been erected, and refreshments will be provided at the various wells. Theaports have been got. up by Mr. Eobb (the purser), Dr. Haines, Mr. Day, and another saloon passenger. They comprise :—A flat race (200 yards), putting the stone sack race, three-legged race (50 yards), Highland Hin- in costume (if possible), race for boys under 14 years (50 yards), wheol-barrow race (blindfolded), high jump, hurdle race, girls race (under 14 years, 40 yards), Irish Jig, &c. No more rows. Everything is lovely.
