This day. At the firing for district representatives by the North Dunedin liifles : G-. Wilson scored 94, Captain Goldie 90. Weather fine. The ranges were 200, 400, 500, and fcOO yards ; seven shots at each range. The Waikouiti Volunteers have fired, the result being, Sutherland, 85 ; Nelrnes, 81 ; Orbell, 78. Only three men of the Naval Brigade fired. lJolbie was the highest, 74. Mr McLean reports prime beef at 40s. ; medium, 27s 6d to 32s ; prime cross-bred mutton, 4d to 4£d ; merino, 3£d to 4d. The demand for wheat during the week has been better. Prime samples, 5s 6d to 5s 9d ; medium, 4s 6d to 4s 9d; prime malting samples of barley, 5s 3d to oa 6d ; medium, 4a 6d to 5s ; oats very scarce, and quoted at oa Gd to Gs ; milling samples (good teed), 5s 3d to 5s 6d.
The Waikari Rangers fired for choice of district representatives. The result being, Marshall, 95; McKenzie, 85; Jones, 81 ; Fraser, SO.
Several stacks of barley, wheat, and oats, the property of Malaghan, were destroyed by fire at Queenstown yesterday. They were insured in the !New Zealand Insurance Company for £400.
