POLICE COURT.—This Day.

(Before Dr. Home, and G. M. Mitford Esq. Justices.) INKBRIATES. Ann Finn for the thirty-third time, and William Wells for the twenty-ninth time, were brought up on charges of drnnkenness. Ann -was sentenced to seven days imprison? ment, and Wells was fined 10s and costs. A SEAMAN IN TROUBLE. David Thompson was charged with committins; a breach of the Merchant Shipping Act, by refusing to join the Golden Crown on the 20th November, he being an articled seaman. Prisoner pleaded guilty, and eaid that the ship drew much more water than he expected, and in his opinion she was very unsafe. Mr Rees, for the prosecution, stated that the ship had been duly examined by competent persons, and would be in proper repair by the time of sailing. Prisoner was ordered to prison for seven days, or until his services should be required, which probably would be on Monday next. SUMMONS OASES. Eobert Donald was called in answer to a charge of refusing to contribute towards the support of hia child in the Industrial School. Mr Broham stated that defendant could not be found. [ ' j I

Ann Lynch was called, but did not appear, in answer to Charge of allowing her dog to attack Mary Ann Alexander and severely bite her leg, on the 3rd instant. < As complainant was in the hospital at present, and as it was represented by Mr Inspector Broham as a very bad case, it was allowed to stand over. Mary Conway, for allowing her parlour chimney to catch fire, on the sth November, was fined 53 and coats. _ Mrs Conway said that she had just previously had her chimney swept, but the sweep had not been faithful to his calling. James Donelly, for furious riding in Stan-ley-street, on the 9th November, and nearly running over a child who was passing, was fined 20s and costs. David Dunningham was summoned, at the instance of the Town Clerk, for failing to pay £10 rateß due on the city assessments, for his hotel in Hobson-street. Mr Barrop having proved that the amount was just and still due, judgment was given for plaintiff. This was all the business.
