COLLISION BETWEEN TWO CARTS.

A case of horse bolting and consequent collision between two carts ocemred in Highstreet at 3 o'clock this afternoon. The hone and cart of Mr Hanly, gingerbeer and cordial manufacturer, was standing in Bigh-atieet, when the horse from some cause or other took fright and bolted at a furious pace down the street. In its course the hoise threw off the blinkers, which still further frightened it. When near the Shortland-street end of High-street the right wheel of Mr. Hanly's cart came into collision with the wheel of a cart belonging to Mr. Murphey. Previous to this Mr Murphy, seeingthedanger, had first of all tried to pull Ms vehicle into a yard, but failing that, had jumped out to save himself. The force of the collision damaged the wheel of hia cart^wd forced hishort-e and vehicle on one side, instate the collision Mr Hanly's horse and cart capsized on the footpath in High-sheet, near its junction with 3hortland-sttees and Mr McCrae, cooper, who W run out when the vehicle passed his premises, seized the restive steed by the head and prevented him from getting up again, thus saving the cart from being smashed to pieces. In doing so Mr McCrae suffered some slight injury toone of hisfingers. The harness was at once looseied by the man in charge of the cart, assisted by bystanders, and the horse soon regained M feet, having suffered a slight cut on its side, but otherwise seemed to be untojared.
