HARBOUR BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Harbour Board was held this afternoon at the office, Portstreet. —Present: Captain Daldy (Chairman), Messrs. Hill, Brett, Eaton, and Yon der Heyde. NEW PIERS. The Works Committee recommended that No. 1 design, of those sent in be selected for the construction of a new pier at the Breakwater. The report was adopted. FINANCE RHPCTRT. A variety of accounts were recommended for payment by the Finance Committee. RECLAMATI"N. The Chairman paid that Mr I/mnigan had entered into the necessary sureties, and would shortly start upon his contract for filling-in Mechanics' Bay. The following statement of the funds of the Boai'd was made:—Balance in bank, £2,001 IGs ; cash in hand, £5 11s 9; total, £2 007 7s 9d. Accounts ordered to be paid, £47 3s ; balance, £1,590 4s 9d. SCRAPING 'IHE WHA.KF PILES. A proposal 1o expend £50 for scraping the shell-fish was adopted on the motion of Mr Brett. WATER FOR TH«! SHIPPING. According to notice Captain Daldy moved "'I hat it be an instruction to the Works Committee to incur ?the necessary expense for the purpose of storing and delivering the surplus wat^r from the railway station for the rise of shipping and other purposes." The Chairman, in moving the resolution, said he had been led to pun it on the pnper owing to what he had obserred in looking round the railway works at Fort Britoma,rt. The railway authorities had a tank holding 8000 gallons, which was generally full. A waste pipe was provided, and a great deal of water ran to waste in the harbour. He proposed that they should have another tank, which could be supplied ou the same manner as the railway tank Mr"Yon der Heyde seconded the motion, and it was carried unanimously. This was all th« business.
