The object of the Company is the supply of wholesome Meat to shareholders and^conßumers at less than can be done by private establishments, FOR CASH, or guaranteed short accounts. The nominal capital of the Company is £4000, in 4000 shares of £1 each. 10s of which wiil only be called up. Arrangements will be made to secure suitable business premise* and an efficient manager. Credit will only be given to Shareholders, and only to the extent of the value of shares held, thus providing against the possibility of bad debts. The saving thus effected will, it is estimated, be sufficiently l«rge to pay 10 per cent interest on capital invested, and a bonus of 10 per cent to consumers ; and good wholesome Meat at a less price than can be done on the credit system. > o shareholder will be allowed to hold more than 100 shares. Above 1200 shares have a'ready been disposed of. As soon as 2000 shares shall have been subscribed for, a meeting of shareholders will be held, and directors chsen. .Early application necessary, as business will be commet ced with the new year. The 10s will be called up in monthy instalments of 2s 6d tach. A list of shareholders can be seen at A. Dornwell's office, Queen street, from whom all further particulars may be obtained ; also, the proposed rules of the Society. Extract of a letter received from the Co-operative Society, Whangaiei :—" VVith reference to the progress of the Society T may state that it has rather exceeded our most sanguine expectations. We have been desirous to see the system inaugurated in Auckland, where a sort of head centra) store should be established."—(Signed) .J. T. Rkybukn. The Secretary of the MahuraDgi Co-operative Society writes wih regard to that Company :—" It is at present and has been doing well. It has brought down prices 20 per cent, and the most liberal of the former storekeepers has reduced his profits considerably, but has done more business in consequence " A Shareholder writes:—" I fully believe in the system and feel confident where properly and economically managed there can ba no doubt of its success."
