WELLINGTON.
Per Press Telegram Agency. This Day. The New Zealand Trims' leader to-day condemns Mr Williamson's journey to England as an unnecessary expenditure of public money. He goes without the consent of the Government, and against their strong protest. It says the Government has refused to delegate the Governor's powers to the Deputy-Superintendent, aud anticipates a stoppage of public business in Auckland should his intention be carried out, as the Government cannot, under the circumstances, come to the relief of the province. The Deputy-Superintendent, by law, has only power to sign election writs. It hopes the journey will not be undertaken. The Times also recommends the Government to introduce a Bill abolishing provincial institutions throughout the colony as the only way to stop the saciifice of Crown LanU3 and prevent direct taxation.
