CHRISTCHURCH RACES.

Our telegrams giving the result of the Christchurch races yesterday, came to hand too late for publication in our first edition. A portion of them was published in a second edition. We give the messages to-day in the briefest possible form, having eliminated all unnecessary remarks to save space, although we have already had to pay the heavy wire charges on them :—

Friday. Selling Race, 50 soys ; weight for age. Mr McKinnon's No Gentleman, 5 years. L3O, Bst lOlbs, 1 ; Mr J Studholme's Zig Zag, colt, 3 years, L4O, 7st 131bs, 2. No Gentleman sprang away with lead ; won easily by five lengths. Christchurch Plate, 150 soys, sweepstake 5 soys. Mr Redwood's Ngaro, 3 years, 6st 81bs, 1 ; Mr Nosworthy's Traitor, 4 years, Bst 71bs, 2 ; Mr O'Brien's Tambourini, aged, lOst lllbs, 3. Traitor made the running at top pace, Tambourini lying second for the first mile, when Ngaro commenced to go up, aud collared Traitor in the straight, and after a magnificent race home won by half ahead. Tambourini was outpaced from the start, and was pulled up in the straight line. Time, 3min. 48sec.

Metropolitan Handicap, 100 soys, added to sweepstake 5 soys each ; 1^ miles. Mr Delamain's Templeton, 4 years, 9st lib, 1 ; Mr Campbell's Tadmor, 3 years, 7st 71bs, 2 ; Mr Barker's Remnant, 3 years, 6st lllbs, 3. Yatterina, 9st 31bs ; Parawhenua, Bst ; Rangi, 6st, 9ibs ; Belle, 6st 41bs ; Exile, 6st

lib, also ran. After nine false starts the lot got fairly away, Parawhenua leading, Yatterina last. At the half-way Templeton and Exile joined Parawhenua, but the latter was soon after passed by Tadmor. Coming down the straight Templeton, Tadmor, and Remnant, came to the front. After a splendid struggle, Templeton won by half a length. Time, 2min. 48sec3. Parawhenua and Yatterina were the favourites at the start.

Christchurch Consolation Handicap, 40 soys, 1 mile. Exile, 6st 71b, 1 ; Waverly, 7st Slbs, 2 ; Parawhenua, Bst lOlbs, 3. Exile lead all the way, and won easily.
