THE HUIA.
Having missed the steamer we despatched a reporter on horseback this morning to the Hiiia with a pigeon. We. have received the following message from : — '" A »&£ Half-way between the Whau and the Huia.
I left a pigeon at the Whau and went on towards the Haia, but when I got to a house which I suppose is half-way I lost the track. The door of the house i^asf locked, and'l could find no one to diredtine."^ After riding down several tracks, and getting bogged, I thought it wiso to return to the house and wait until the. return of the occupant. I have taken refuge in the cow-house, and a« [there is no prospect of reaching home tonight 1 release the pigeon, with this message to let you know where I am.
