The barque William Gifford, from New York via Dunedin and Wellington, arrived this afternoon after a fine weather passage from Wellington. She brings a cargo of Yankee notions principally for Messsrs. Owen and Graham. An error occurred in the manifest of the Miltiades published yesterday :, 3 cases wine should have read 30 qr.-casks rum, Blaydes, Evens and Co. The schooner Ivanhoe arrived last night from Tonga and Famoa with a cargo of copra consigned to Messrs Cruickshank & Co. She left Samoa on the 16th June, and Tonga on 7th July. On the 10th July she sighted and spoke the whaling barque Bunter, last from the Bay of Islands. She had 200 barrels of sperm oil on board. On the 19th a large fullrigged ship was passed in lat. 33.4 S., long. 174.45 E. She was apparently bound for Samoa. Had fine weather and S.W. winds to the land ; afterwards strong S.W. squalls with rain. Sighted a brig on the 21st bound "westward. The whalers Callao, Coral, and Abraham Barker were at at Tongatabu when the Ivanhoe left.
