THE WAITEMATA ELECTION.
(To to the Editor of the Evening Star.) Sir, —The leading article in your last night's issue seems to have impressed some of my friends with the idea that there may be some grounds for the statemenb that there is a probability of*my retiring from the contest in the Waitemata election. Lest this feeling should spread farther I beg to give any rumours of this kind an unqualified contradiction. To use a homely phrase : I have hoisted my colours, and shall certainly not strike tbem but continue the contest to the end. —I am, etc., G. Yon dkr Heyde.
