Mosley's Price Current states that the Customs duties collected in the port of Wellington in June was £9,092 against £7,404 for 1873. Stocks in bond on June 30 show an increase in the month of 50 quarter-casks, 500 cases brandy, 500 cases geneva, although the clearances have been large. Exports for the quarter ending June. 1574, amount to £70,495, ditto corresponding quarter, 1873, £58,67G, the difference being in flax valued in 1873 at £14,824, in 1874 at £549. The export of this article in 1873 was exceptionally large. Striking it out both returns show an increase in the export of ordinary articles. Bank returns for the quarter will show an increase of about two millions out on loan upon amount out of June, 1873.
