THREATENED ATTACK ON THE THAMES.
It has been officially reported by Mr C. F. Mitchell that a meeting of Ohineniuri natives was held yesterday, at which measures were discussed for an attack on the Thames, and suggestions were made as to how the greatest amount of damage could be inflicted. We are in a position to Touch for the fact that this information has been officially communicated to the proper quarters, but as to the extent to which the report is based on truth we are not in a position to state. At the same time we are perfectly confident that if an attack is made on the hearths and homes of our goldfields friends there will few Hauhaua return to tell the tale. Particulars are furnished in our telegrams.
