Mkmo.—Lieut.-Colonel Lyon has been requested by His Excellency Sir George Bowen, G.C.M.G., to convey his sincere thanks to the Volunteers of the Auckland District who took part in the public Demonstration on his departure from the colony. Colonel Lyon cannot allow this opportunity to pass without expressing to the Officers, Non-Com-missioned Officers and men of the several Volunteer Corps his entire satisfaction at the manner with which they performed their duties, also their soldier-like conduct and bearing.
