MEETING THIS AFTERNOON
At two o'clock this afternoon the usual fortnightly meeting was held at the office of the Board. Present: Captain Daldy (Chairman), Messrs. Yon Any Heyde, J. Copland, Captain Anderson- v;aptu; n C»—«»-. "Mami" fi~»«i.fc_ Cochrane, P. A. .Philips, B. Tonks, and Macready. The minutes of last meeting having been read, the Chairman stated that the Superintendent had instructed the Treasurer to hand over to the Harbour Board the balancesheets of the harbour for the last three years.— A letter was read from Mr. Lusk with reference to the investment of the Harbour Endowments Sinking-fund, and was referred to the Finance Committee.—A letter from some Maoris was received complaining of the condition of the Maori market-place. They required the fence put closer, a lock for the gate, and some chimneys to keep the Maoris warm.—Ordered to stand over.
A resolution was carried to remove tbe Maori market to a more eligible site. Several other letters were read, and the meeting was proceeding as we went to press.
