THE CIRCUS.

Theee was a very large attendance at the Circus on Saturday evening, much, larger then was warranted by the performance, For the thing is a sham. The high prices, for they are extraordinarily high, didnotdeter thepublicfromattendingthe first evenhie, which speiks volumes for the Circusovirig proclivities of the population; but we venture to say that th^ve will not be such a crowd to-night. The tricks are the old ones usually seen at such places ol amusement, but so badly performed as is rarely seen. We regret that we were instrumental last week in puffing up this thing, and hasten to make to the public the amende honorable. We did so on h#arsay, but hearsay was fibbing. A large number of people were turned from the doors, and their crown pieces refused from absolute want of room. These were the lucky ones ; and the incident affords an illustration of the folly of being distressed by disappointment. If last Saturday night is a specimen of what the " Great World Circus" is cap-ible of prespnting to the people of Auckland, we think the " Great World Circus" should move on. Unfortunately for then\ there have been circuses here before, and " comparisons are odorous."
