By His Excellency Major-General, GEORGE DEAN PITT, Knight of the Royal Hanoverian of the Provin er, &c, &c., sc. jTHEREAS, by an Ordinance enacted'by , . . the Lieutenant-Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, intituled — " An Ordinance for regulating the Slaughtering of Cattle in certain places," Session 8. No. 5, it is—for the purpose of reLing the slaughtering of cattle in certongst other things enacted, oe lawful for his Excellency the a time to time to constitute, and j ,tricts for the purpose afor . d;" And whereas it is thereby further enacted, '•' that within any such district, and after a day to be prescribed by an>' such Pro- ! clamation, no person shall keep a Slaughterse, or place for slaughtering cattle intended ■u. sale, barter, shipping, or exportation, except such house or place be duly license" " ' purpose," and that "if any pei slaughter or cause to be slaughtered huy tame as aforesaid, in any house, or place, within such district, he shall of Five Pounds for every head of Cattle so slaughtering of cattle, within certain parts of the Town of Auckland. Now, therefore, I, the Lieutenant-Governor, do by this Proclamation, constitute* and define so much of the Town of Auckland, as is included within the following joundaries, to be a district for the purposes of the sai i recited Ordinance, (that is to say) " Hobson-street on the west; High-water mark, Custom-house-street, and high-watec mark till it reaches the strand in Mechanics' Bay, on the norfb. ; the strand and Symonds' street on the east, including Section 9 ; and Wakefield" and Wellesley-streets on the south.".
