CANTERBURY FEDERATION Mooting of Executive Committee A meeting of the Executive committee was held on Wednesday in Christchurch when there were present Mrs Ross Macdonald (president) in chair, Mesdames Pilkington, Dick, Davis, Misses E. M. Le Lievre, D. Warren and E. Jacobson. Apologies were received from Mes dames W. Deans, A. Morten and Waugh. Mrs Oa/i? reported having seen the St. John's Ambulance authorities in regard to classes for home nursing and first aid. It was decided that the Institutes be advised to form home nursing or first aid classes under the supervision of the local doctors and qualified nurses. It was decided to write to Mrs Waugh expressing sympathy with her in her husband's serious illness. Madame Henrietta wi-ote agreeing to be put on the panel of lectures and give talks on the care of hair and diseases of the scalp and her name was put on the panel. The Dominion committee wrote agreeing to the formation of a club in Christchurch consisting of past members. A sub-committee consisting of Mesdames W. Deans, Davis and Ross Macdonald was formed to draw up a scheme for the proposed club in Christchurch. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs Davis in her husband's recent accident. It was decided to hold the half yearly meeting on October 25, and to eAtend an imitation to the Nort Canterbury Federation. Miss V. Bowis, Doyleston.was appointed Press correspondent to Home and Country and co-opted to the Federation committee. LITTLE RIVER BRANCH • A meting of the Little River Womens Institute was held recently. Mrs J. N. McGowan (president) presided and welcomed visitors. Reports on circle activities were given by Mesdames P. Birdiing, D. • Stewart, C. Cradock, J. Borwick and I. Barclay. A formation meeting of a Red Cross ?i.b-centre was amo ged for July. Mr Lennie gave a most interesting ar- instructive talk on chrysanthemum culture and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Competitions resulted: Vase of chrysanthemums, decorative—Mrs Evans 1, Mrs A. Patten 2, Mrs Chapman 3; Prettiest cup, saucer and plate—Mrs R. Barclay 1, Mrs F. Crock.tt 2, Mrs A. Mould 3. Hostesses were Mesdames W. Banks, C. Dutton, H. Reed, A. Radford, F. Crockett and Miss Betty Bennison.
