Miss Betty Turner (Puaha, Little River), who has been visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs G. Turner (Barry's Bay) has returned home. Mr C. Pocock and son (Wanganui) are the guests of Mr and Mrs G. Pocock (Western Valley, Little River). Mrs M. A. Taylor (Timaru) is visiting her sister, Mrs W. Stanbury (Puaha, Little River). Mrs A. Finlay (West Coast) has returned home from a holiday spent with her parents, Mr and Mrs N. Watkins (Puaha, Little River). Mrs G. Latham (St. John's Hill, Wanganui) are the guests of Sir Bruce and Lady Stewart (Strathmore, Pigeon Bay), They intend to visit Akaroa and the bays around the Peninsula on their launch, the "Dugong." Mr Latham has just returned from Mount Cook, where, with a party, he was successful in reaching the top. On Wednesday afternoon, Mrs W. W. Garton (Timaru), who is on a visit to Akaroa, entertained some of her old rfiends to tea at the Kowhai Tea Rooms. A very delightful afternoon tea was served and the time was spent in pleasant social intercourse. Those present were Mesdames W. Garton, F. C. Newton, T. Masefield, C. Innes, B. W. Henning, W. Jacobson, Misses Hill (Christchureb), G. Newton, A. Corbett, E. and M. Jacobson. Mr Clifford Glynan, son of Mr James Glynan, Akaroa, who has been in the Akaroa Hospital for a week is progressing favourably. Mr C. Glynan had an accident at the Takamatua Beach Sports being thrown in the Oinako Cup race and he injured , his leg. He will go up to Christ- , church later for X-ray examination. Mrs Johnson (New Brighton) is ■ staying with her daughter, Mrs J. E. Armstrong (Mt. Clair, Akaroa).
