FIRST LADY COUNCILLOR
MAYOR WELCOMES COUNCILLOR
B. E. BAUGHAN.
The first woman to sit on the Akaroa Borough Council was welcomed on taking her seat by His Worship the .Mayor (Mr F. R. .E. Davis), at the Council meeting on Wednesday night. After Councillor Baughan had made the usual statutory declaration, the Mayor welcomed her as the first lady elected to the Council. He said he hoped Councillor Baughan would maintain the high standard which had always been set by Councillors in the past and Hhat she would- assist her fellow Councillors for the general good of the toWn. Councillor Baughan thanked ' the Mayor for this welcome and kind and courteous words.
