AKAROA GOLF CLUB.

CLOSING OIF SEASON.

* There was a large attendance of numbers and their friendss at the closing of the- Akaroa Golf Club's season which was held on Saturday afternoon in ideal weather.

Mr 'R. Bruce, Club Captain, said they were all pleased to see so many present and: to have such a nice afternoon ' for the function and he hoped this augured well for the future success of the Club. He asked Mr Armstrong to present the trophies won during the year.

His Worship the Mayor, President of the Clulb said it always gave him great pleasure to. be present at such functions and to see such a. large number interested in the game. The ■Club had had its good and bad l times but now was one of the strongest in the town and 1 he hoped the game would continue to flourish as it was a very popular and interesting g-ame. He then presented' the Club trophies and medals congratulating the winners on their success. The trophies won during the season are as follows :— Ladies' .Championship Cup—-Miss 13. Jacobson. Men's Championship. Cup—F. C. Newton. Armstrong iCup— Gordon Le Lievre Wad del' 1 Cup—its Hemingway and 'R. Bruce. Ladies 'Medal—Mrs Oliver. Senior Men's 'Medal—-J. 'McKay. Junior Men's Medal—'E. Mickle. Men's Medal—R. Bruce. Vice President's Cup— F. Davis. . A very nice afternoon t?n which was- provided' by Mrs R. Bruce was held in the new shelter shed below the fourth green and was very much appreciated. ■COMPETITIONS. A large number took part in the held during the afterno'on when there was keen competition in all events. The competitions resulted as follows:— Ladies' Putting—(Mrs W. A. N'ewton. Ladies' Approach and Putt—Mrs L. Morrison. Ladies' Drive—'Mrs W. A. Newton. Men's Putting—>R. Bruce. Approach and Putt—R. Bruce. Men's Drive—W. Jacobson. In the iLad'ies' drive Mrs Newton and \Miss B. Jacdbson tied in the first drives and in the men's approach j and putt R. Bruce and l W. A. Newton each put the ball down in 2.
