AKAROA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
COMMITTEE' MEETING. The President, Mr G. Armstrong, presided over a small attendance at a committee meeting held last Monday. A balance sheet of the Summer Show showing a credit balance of 6s 6d after paying all accounts to date was approved. It was left to Messrs G. Armstrong and P. G. Riches to see ve storage of trestles belonging to the Society. An account for work on show day was left to the Hon. secretary to adjust. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to the Hon. Sec. and Treas. for work done ir connection with tha Summer Show which had been carried out successfully in face of many difficulties. Votes of thanks were also passed to Mesdarp.es Shepherd,- Pilkington, Miss jf-nkins, and Mr G. Armstrong for arranging a successful concert. Mr P. G. Riches suggested that the Nurserymen in Ohristchurch be written to and asked for special prizes in connection with the shows and the suggestion was adopted. Mr G. Armstrong stated that Messrs Mason Struthers had given ihe Akaroa Regatta Club a rose-bowl fo" competition; but had later decided to give same to the Akaroa Horticultural Society. It was decided that the Hon. Sec. write and thank Messrs Mason SLuthers for the gift and that the matter of deciding the competition for which the rose bowl would bs entered as prize :be left to ths annual rating. As the Society is in debit to the txtcnt of ov<k' .£7 it was resolved that a shop in aid of funds be held !-;.vt Spring, the Hon. Sec. and the 11. n. T.cas. to make all arrangements re same.
