OBITUARY
MRS. MUNRO SENR. There passed away on Saturday an old Peninsula resident in the person of Mrs Munro. She was born in Sunderland, England in 1839 and came to New Zealand with her parents Mr and Mrs Slater in 185 S. Mr Slater and family first went to Lyttelton and afterwards to Pigeon Bay. Mrs Munro married in Christchurch about 1860 and came to live later in Pigeon Bay where Mr Munro had the farm known as the "Bluegums.'" Later they moved to Akaroa where Mr Munro died about 1872. Mrs Munro has lived since between Akaroa and Southbridge where her parents settled. Though she was nearly 83 years old she enjoyed excellent health and had a marvellously clear memory of the old Peninsula days. She leaves four children, two sons and two daughters, Messrs A. R. Munro of Akaroa, and <H. S. Munro of Pahnerston North and Mesdames Malcoimson of Southbridge and J. G. Barwick, of .Duvauchelle. She had ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was buried in the Akaroa Cemetery yesterday. Rev. .J. W. . Hayward officiating at tli« graveside.
