AN EXCITING EXPERIENCE
Christohurch, January 12.
A Christehurch party of six, including a medico and three ladies, who motored over to the We3t Coast, had an exciting experience on their return journey, Coming down the Gorge at one of the steepest pieces a bo)t gave way and disconnected the engine from control. The car began to whiz down the steep road with a. shear drop on one side and a bushy bank of the other, almost instantly attaining a speed set down at something like 100 miles, an hour. The chauffeur's only control was of the steering wheel, and seeing in a flash the only alternative to a plunge of 50ft, he turned the car into ,the bush. It was badly smashed up, tut strange to say the accupants escaped injury.
