OBITUARY.
MRS. JOHN DONOVAN
A well known and respected resident of the Peninsula passed away on Wednesday afternoon in the person of Mrs John Donovan, of French Farm. Deceased, who w.is born i;f Akaroa in J 810, was the second daughter of the late Junis-; Wright., of Wakamoa. She married the iaie Mr John Donovan, of Akaroa, a carpenter by trade, and lived in Akaroa for a number of years. There was only one child of the marriage, Mr James Donovan, of French Farm, with whom deceased has mad 3 her horn;:' during the last seventeen yofirs. Her husband predeceased her by r.me years. Mrs Donovan's fame h;is spread far and wide for her gift in cheese-making, and she has won n"i*3 f > prize for years at tlio Obrisrcburch Shows for farmers' cheesu. Hho has certainly been the most competitor in this ciass in Canterbury, and she has always gained the bigger price in the market fov all the cheese she has made. Mrs Donovan enjoyed good health up to two or three months ago, when sho showed signs of ill health, and quickly succumbed. She will be much in French Farm and Wainui, where her acts of kindness are well l<rmwn. If anyone was in bad buaitb or trouble of any kind, Mrs Donovan was always to ib>i fore in spite of mcosiveniencn to her self, and there is no doobfc i-hat her careful nursing has proiongi-d the life of her mother, Mrs J urn en Wright, senr, This make?! the fifth dunth in the Wright family duiing the la«t few months, and i-'sueh sym'nuhy in fei: for tbe bereaved family.
