AKAROA COUNTY RACING CLUB.
A meeting of Stewards was held ab the Hotel, Little River, on Tuesday, 15th inst Present—Messrs H. D. Buchanan (chairman), 8. B. Harris, M. P. Knight, John F. Buohanan, S. Nutt and T. Quealy. The minutes of th 6 previous meeting were read and confirmed. , Letters were received— From Messrs Hobbs and Goodwin, that some false tickets ware attempted to be passed In for payment of dividends on the totalisator, and that the names of thoße who presented them were taken. Also that the praobice is becoming somewhat frequent, lb was decided that if Messrs Hobba and Goodwin are in a position to produce sufficient) evidenoe this Club will be prepared to j prosecute-in those cases. From 0. J.C., a circular as to the absolute necessity of etriotly collecting insurance fees in respeob of every horse starting in any race under rule 143. The Chairman reported thab subjecb lo the advices of the Club's solioitor, steps were being taken bo prosecute a number of bookmakers as per reporb forwarded by bhe Club's deteotlve. The Chairman spoke eulogistically of the services rendered by the Hon. Sec, and proposed—Thab an honorarium of £20 be paid to him. r J Seoonded by Mr Knight and carried. I The Secrebary returned thanks, but de-I olined to accept the honorarium, as he considered a good part of the kind remarks were < due to the generosity of the olub more than < to his merits. ,

It was resolved that a hearty vote of thata hearty vote of thanks bs tendered to MrC. Hood Williams for his valuable assistance, freely given, not only on this, but on ail foimer occasions.
