On the second day the stud rams were sold. Prices were irregnlar and disappoint, in?. Mr Parry's first prize 2 sh»ar bhrop* shire made the highest price of the Fair, viz , 35gs. He was bought for the North IsHnd. Many of the beat of the Show sheep weie retained by breeders for their studa. The general entry of stud sheep was much larger than the demand, and henoe the unprecedented low prices. Association, at the Show Grounds on the opening day. The entries, says thl* " Press," were large, English Leioesters, forming the bulk, and there were also good entrieß of Shropshires. Border Leioesters, Southdowns and Corriedales. The sale opened with flock Shropshire rams, the quality or which was not up to the standard of for* mer years, and only the rams from the best flocks commanded any attention. Prices, however, were very low, and many lots were passed at anction. The range ot. prices was lgn to 3_gns, and Mr C. Lewis, M.H.R., told an extra good one at 7fgs. Messrs T. E. Upton, D. Mulholland, and W. A. Nixon had the best average values. A great many of the English; Leicester* were in backward condition, and, like the Shropshire!, the average quality showed a falling off The numbers offered were cvi* dently more than were required, and while comparatively low prices ruled (throughout, it was almost impossible to effeot sales at any figure towards the dose of the day. Well-grown, good'conditioned rams, not too ooarae in the wool, oommanded Jmost atten* tion, and flock owners who werje represent" ed by suoh sheep, were able to dispose of «P: most of their lots. The general range of prices was lgn to 3|gns, while Mr Donald Grant sold several at 6}gns to 7fgns and Mr J. Sowden's beat price waa 7£gnß. The b?Bt average sales were made by Messrs * Donald Grant, J. Sowden, W. Nixon, and Geo. Jameson. >
