The keenness of the demand was evident from the faot that scarcely a lot was passed for auction, and th'\t late prices for all classes were firmly maintained. Bheep that were purchased at the Culverden sale the previous week were again disposed of atiadvance. The principal sales were :—Fwee : 661 two tooths 16 2d to 16s 4d, 295 fwo and four toot he 153 9d, 96 at 143 6d, 101 two, four and cix tooths 15s 296 four and 13s 4d to 13s 6d, 440 S'x and eicht tooth'l6* 9d, 135 at) 16e 3d, 180 sound mouth 16s 6d, 255 at 15s 2d. 101 at 16s Id, 289 at 14s 7d, 480 at 14e lid, 127 at I<U HA, 300 at 13a 10d. 271 at 13a 6d to 13a 9J, 250 at 13a Bd, 142 at 10a 9d, email at from 7s Id to 15*. The entry of fat lambs totalled 1750, and the quality wae mixed. Competition was fairly brisk, and late rates were well rrmir tamed. made 15a 2d to 16s Bd, fret z , era 13a to 14s 7d, and unfinished lota from 123 6d upwards, several lines being bought by greziers. Peninsula sales were : —Mr J, C. C. Gebbie, Gebbie's Valley, 67 ab 13a 7d; Mr J. H. Farkineon, Kaituna, 60 ab 139; Mr G. J. Black. Akaroa, 180 at 12s 6d.

There wae a medium entry of fat sheep, and though the market opened qniet, there was good competition afterwards for all classes, and prices were, if anything, firmer, especially for ewes. The range of prices W ac :_Beeb wethers 18s to 21s, extra prime to 235, lighter 16a 4d to 17s 6d, beat ewes 17a to 19a lid, extra prime to 21s, others 14s to 16s 6d. The following were the Peninsula Bales:—Messrs H, D. and J. Buchanan, Kioloch, 161 wethers at 19s; Mr G. J. Black, Akaroa, 70 ewes 14s 7d to Iβ* 31; Mr J.ißeid, Woinui, 15 ewes 18s Id. The supply of beef comprised 144 head, of fair quality, and in consequence of the comparatively small numbers there was an Improvement in prices, especially for medium sorts. Eight steers from the Chatham Island made £8 5a to £8 17a 6d, 11 steers from Mr T, Chapman, Mount Palm, £10 2s 6d to £11, and 5 heifers £8 7e 6d to £9, equal to 21s to 26a. There was a good entry of fat calves', and they sold from 6a to £3 5?, the bulk of them going over 20s. There was a fairly large yarding of etore cattle, including a considerable number of calves The sale was rather dull, but most of the younger eorts found purchasers The range of prices wae :—Calves 23s to 335, yearlings £2 2a to £2 12s 6d, fifteen to eighteen months £3 Is to £3 18* 6d, two and a half year old steers £6, dry cows 38s to £4 17s 6d. The sale of dairy cows was not bo brisk as the previous week, and the highest price realised was £9. There was a fairly large entry of plgi, fats selling well, and there was a keen demand for stores owing to the presence of outside buyers. Baconers made 44s 6d to 53a 6d, and a line of 10 from the Canterbury Agricultural College 56s 6d, equal to 4£d per lo ; porkers, 34* to 425, equal to s£d per lb ; large stores, 30s to 353, end a line of breeding sows 39s 6d ; medium, 22e 6d to 27a 6d ; and weavers, 12b to 20s,
