PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the abeve Board was held on Saturday, sth March, 1904. Present—Messrs B. Goodwin (Chairman), Jno, Pettigrew, R. S. Hay, G. McKay and W. Corrigall. The minutes of the prior meeting were read and confirmed.

Correspondence was read—

From Beswiok, Harris & Orbell enquiring if the correot area ot closed roads through Hunt's and Pettigrew's had been re-gazetted The Clerk was instructed to reply. The Chairman reported thab he had attended the meeting of local bodies held at Duvauobelle's, in connection with the rate of wages paid by the various Boards on the Peninsula. After hearing the views of the various delegates, he thought it would be advisable tor this Bourd to make their own arrangdmentß re wages. After some discussion on the rate of foreman's wages, Mr R. 8. Hay proposed, Mr Corrigall neconded—That the Board's pre sent foreman be paid at the rate of 8a per day.

Carried unanimously. Mr McKay enquired if Mr Hay had received any notice re cutting hawthorn hedge on Main road. The Clerk stated that notice had been sent,

It was resolved that Mr Hay be again written to.

Some discussion took place on the matter of improving of Fernhill road and metalling same.

It wao resolved that the improvement be proceeded with at once, the foreman to engage labour required, and tenders be called for carting abouh 280 yards of metal from Summit road to Fernhill road, tenders to be in by 10 30 am. on March 18fcb.

It was decided to inspect Fernhill to\d at conclusion of meeting. The Clerk was directed to take the necessity stupe to collect outstanding rates. On the motion of Mr MoKay, spconrfed by Mr B. 8. Hay, the following accounts were passed for payment:—Goodwia Bros £6 18a Geo. Knurtf-en £1 Hβ 6d, H. Morgan £2 10s, C. H. Salt £2, Robinson and Salt £3 9a 4d.

The Biar.l Mien adjourned till Saturday, 2nd April, 1904.
