PICNIC AT STONEY BAY.

A delightful picnic was held at Stoney Bay on Saturday, Octob?r 24tb. Mrßoleyn. the owner cf the Bay, having invited the members ol the Chorlton R.iid Club to hold a day's practise at his rifle range, had, with hlsu'UAl hosri'ality, exuuded the li.vila fcion to his friends also' who gladly availed thermelves of the opportunity of picnicking in suoh a delightful spot. The day was lather hot; Fsut the riflemen worked away diligently, putting in a very fair day's practise, the best scores being made by Mr W. Craw and the Captein, Mr S. Shuttlewortb. After the men bad finished shotting, the the return hdies' match- Chnrlton v. Stcney Bay— wae held, and resulted .in Chorlton winnirg by a large majority, Mrs W. Barkle, oi the victorous team, showing her self the moßtacourate markswoman among the competitors. Great interest was taken in this. p*rt of the programme, those who were er joying tin mselves lei&urelv in cool retreats, emeiging therefrom to witness the praiseworthy efforts ff tie ladiee to ehoot straight, and even the children and young folk for<akirg '.heir gan:es to watch.
