OKAIN'S BAY ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Okain's Road Board was held on August 8:h. Present— Meeera Mason (Chairman), Tnacker and Wells. Apologies were received from Messrs Gilbert aud Spurr for their abaenoe. MINUTES. V The minutes Rnd accouute of previous meeting were read and confirmed. COKRESPONDKNCE. C'-respondence Wi3 read from Supervising Valuer with corrected valu>\'ion roll, and iiotifyi g that the owners of property, whic'i had changed hnnds siuce March 31et, must be h?id responsible till March next. From Mr G. Harper, opiuion as to Board's position with regard to the etockpen at jetty. -w From the Collector of Customs, asking if Board had fenced a part of the foreshore. The Clerk reported that he had made enquiree re some pollard, which had been taken from the Okaiu'e shed, and found that it was marked with a somewhat similar brand to that of the goods being carted, which in a meaeure accounted tor the mis , take.
WOBKB BEPORT. Mr Welle reported that he and Mr Gilbert had accepted a tender from Messrs T. Pawßon and J. S. Wells for the metal required on Chorlton roal, at 5a 6d per yard. Mr S. Shuctleworth had allowed the metal to be taken from his land on condition *fchat a tew yards be uEed on the road fronting hie property, and** little filling done. TUB BATE. The motion levying the General Rate of three-farthinge in the £ was confirmed, and *lhe Clerk instructed to collect a farthing wharf rate for Okuiu'd, unci three (sixteenths of a penny for Little Akaloa whar' interest. PBIVATE KOAD. Mr F. James ashed if the Board had author iced some repairs to a private road on hie property, anri the Chairman replied that the Board had not done co.
TENDEBS. It was resolved that tenders be invited for metalling the parts of the Okfi \'s Valley road, so na to complete the met 1, beins; as far ac Mr J. Moora's. Tender to be in 3&turd»y, the 15th inst.; also that tenders be invited for grass seed on roads, to be in by next Board day. ACCOUNTS. Some small outstanding rates were ordered to be written off, and accounts passed to amount of £25 19s, i>ud the Board rose.
