The fat cattle totalled 221, with a fair proportion of steers an 4 prime heifers. The market on the whole wa9 fairly easy, but a f= w pens of specially good quality ■old remarkably well. Steers realisprl from £6 15s to £11 7a 6d, heifers from £5 17s 6d. to £9 5.-. two extra prime £11 10s snd £11 12* 6.1, cows £5 10a to JE9 10e. The price of beef ruled at from 25s to 293 per 1001b. A ems.ll yarding of calves sold at prices tanging from 10s to £2 9s. The fat sheep were not so numerous as usual, and as butchers and export) buyers Competed keenly, a eatiefactory Bale re* suited. Wethers and medium quality ewe» aold a ehade easier than the previous Week, prime ewes were firm at past rates. Tbe range of prices was:—Best freezing freteinid wethers IBs 10d to 22a sd, medium 1617 dto 18s, best butchers' ewes 16s to £1 Iβ 9d, medium 11s 9d to 15s Bd, wethers ftcri ewes 14s 6d to £1. There was a small yarding of fat lt»mbe, the quality above the average. There wae a fjood demand for lambs for export, and prices were from 6d to a shilling per head above these mliDg last week. Thomson (Rolleston), 40 from 13s to 14s Bd. The sale of j.lge was very poor, the entries being few, and the attendance of buyers fmall. The recß submitted changed handb at similar prices to those]ruling last week.
