It is wih much pleasure your Committee record the great success of the Art Union btld recently in aid of the additions to the boatbbuee, which ban been the meaoß of increasing fbe general fund by £53 10s. The Club is deeply indebted to its friends in Constoburch and for the handsome prizes given for that object, and also to those who kindly β^ni-ted et Ihe concert and drawing of tickets The receipts up to the present are £149 10d, end ihe expenditure, which included the repayment of the £50 loan, £142 si. Oo the motion of Mr Jacoheon, seconded by Mr Check ley, the report was ■ unanimously adopted. - Mr Jaoobeon referred to the excellent work that had been done by the officers And General Commit cc in connection with the Art Union, end moved That a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to them for their valuable sorvi-jee. The resolution which wae seconded by Mr Ditely, war carried nneni nouely. Mr R. Newton moved a vote of thanks to Messrs Whelch, Hemingway, Ditely. Leete, who worked herd in the interests of the Club, sparing no pains to secure the coin* fort and interests of members whether at home or , when competing ftt other regaltip. The repolotion was seconded by Mr Newton and carried with acclamation. Mr Leete, in returning thanke, eaid that the eecrHiry-ebip of the A.BO. bad been the tirtt public work he had undertaken in Akaroa. Ho had done hie best for the Club, bat it was a labour of love, end the work wae mninly done by members of the committee. Tbe com miitee were excellent, in fact he did not believe it possible Jo form a better, for tbey not only had the interest a of the Club at heart but gave practical aid when peesible. The Captain was indefatigeble in coaching young members and spared do pains in attending to anyone who wished to improve hie rowing. The meetinge of the Committee had been excellently attended, and never once lapsed for wank of a qnoram. Mr Wolfreye returned tbanks on behalf of tbe officers. Mr Ditely eaid be did not tee why fooroared racee should not be heid at the regatta as the water wae most suitable. He moved that it be a suggestion to the oomnai tee to recommend to the Akaroa Regatta Committee the iuclonon of I foar-oared race at next regatta; Seoonded by Mr Hemingway. A general dieouesion eneoed, the difficulty of bringing fonr>oared outriggers from the Plains being specially pointed out by Mesm Leete and Jaoobeon, , The reeolnlion wee carried.
