A mettlng of this Council was held on 'Wednesday night. Present-His Worship tho Mayor and Crs Channel! Perm, Heath, 'HauißOti, Taylor and Munro.

From Messrs Hewitt and Snnckell, asfeing for £10 progress payment, Aylmer street contract. On the motion of Cr Heath, seconded by Cr Chappell, the request wasgranted. 'From Dr. Laing, asking permission _o ""make additions to stable accommodation for trap at bank of Immigration Barraoks. On tho motion of Cr ChflppeU, seconded ■by Cr Harrison, the request wis grantsd. From Government Life Insurance, ask"me details as to proponed inking fund for repayment of loan of £900, borrowed from the department. His Worship said it had been arranged 'to put by whut.ver tbe Council could afford annually. No definite buih had ■ been arranged. The Clerk was instructed to reply to thßt effect*

CONTRACTS

•It was resolved that tenders for carting and wharf lighting for the ensuing year be called, to be in by next meeting.

MUTEB STREET CONTRACT. •Hie Worship said that the contract had been completed, but that the road was not quite tho width specified in one place. This was not the contractor's fault, as the length of piping would not allow of it* being made wider, and if it were according ;to bpecifiuotione. two pipes would have to be ndded to give the necessary wifith and elope. Tbere were a few things to be done, bn* these would not take long. He considered tho road sufficiently wide at. prosetit. Cr Taylor moved That the sfention of the Chairman of the Wharves Coromitt-e be called to the necessity of nailing down loose plaDkson tbe new and old wharves ; also for painting the new wharf shed and rai's. , Seconded by. Cr Chappell and carried.

TENDER.

A tender was opmipd for metalling Jolie street from E F. Lelievre nt £2 9a HA per chain, or a to'al of £20 18s 7<J. 0" the motion of Ct Chappell; seconded by Oi Perm. the tender was accepted. Supervision was left in tbe hands of the "Chairman ot the Works Commiit^e. His Worship the Mayor and Cr Chappell were appointed to sign the contract.

Domain Boakd.

A meft'ng of the Domain Board was then held: the same gentlemen present. A Itt'er from Mr Jolly was read agreeing J to retain office as Domain oatetaker to December 1-t. The-"Chairman reported details of sale of wood at Domain. Tbere was a credit 1 balance of L 5 4h 3d after all expenses had been paid. .
