At the Magistrate's Court, Inveroargill Mr Poynton committed Minnie Dean for trial for the murder of Dorothy Edith Carter, and discharged Charles Dean. He said there was no evidence at all against Dean; and that he left the Court without a stain on hie cboncter The police, however, wpre justified in arresting him, as they did not know what evidence might crop up. Re thought that where a bue» band and wife lived together and bodies were found buried iv their garden, it was quite within reason that-the police shoo Id suspect the husband of being oonnected and bad there been any evidence against bim at all be would oe'tiinly have committed him. Mr Ilanlon, solicitor for tbe accoead, admitted that the police bad acted fairly and were entitled to credit for the way in which tbey bad worked up tbe case.. Dean ebook hands witb bia solicitor and left. Tbe wife will be tried at the eilting of the Supreme Court opening on Tuesday next.
