The funeral of Mrs H. Bailey son., was attended by a large number of residents, nnd although the roads were very mudriy from the recent ™in a number of ladies were present to pay their last tribute to their much respected friend. On Wednesday afternoon MrGeo.Crotty presented to the Road BoaT.l a petition signed by a number of ratepayers preying the Road Board would petition the Government for a grant so as to enable them to place the jetty road in repair, hr at the pTeßent time it waH unsafe for traffic. The Chairman rather demurred, but after Mr "T Olflridge and others had npoken on the bad state of the road, and hlso of the Board being ehort of funds it was agreed to move in the matter.

On Saturday and Sunday a very heavy sea was running in the buy, and the s.s. Jane Douglas did not make her usual weekly call on Friday pvening.
