YOUNG MEN'S ASSOCIATION.
The Entertainment in connection with St Peter's Young Men's Association took place on Tuesday evening; in the Town Hall. The evening being fine there was a good attendance. The first item on the programme was a pianoforte duet nicely played by the Miesea Nicholla. Mies Bayley then eang ' Come, Birdie Come ' very sweetly and deserved the approbation accorded her. The third itfin was a recitation by Mr James Piper demonstrating the fact that the worst criminal often possesses redeeming virtues. Number four, song by Mr Kicketts. ' The Old Rustic Bridge,' for which he was encored, and responded by singing ' When Other Lips.' Messrs Doberty and Piper followed with the dialogue from Sbakeepeare'e Henry IV botween Sir John Faletaff and Prince Henry and were vehemently applauded, after which Mr Potts sang with good taßte ' Steering Home. , A scene from Handy Andy was then produoed by Meesre Spurr and McGregor, which greatly amused the audience. Miss Ethel Nicholle then song in fine clear tonee ' Dear Robin I'll be Trje,' and was deservingly applauded, The next item was the second scene from Handy Andy (at the Post Office), in which Mr Nioholla jun. took the part of the postttuae er. Mr E. Spurr, Andy, and Mr Cullen, Mr Durfy. The parts were ably sustained, and the scene produced loare of laughtei. Miss B. Vangioni then sang ' Only a pansy blossom' nicely, after whioh followed another scene from Handy Andy. Miss Emily Vangioni sang ' The White Ship ' with much feeling, and was loudly applauded by tlie audience. Mr F. Wight gave a reading from Pictswick, and delighted his hearers. Mr McGragar was enoorad for hie singing of ' Anchored.' The success of the musical portion of the programme was in a great measure due to Mre Geo. Armstrong, who played most of the accompaniments. Mr Nicholls also deserves the thanks of the Association for the time and aeaintance given. An hour's daDcing concluded a very pleasant evening.
