DEPOSITING BOTTLES ON BEACH.
To the Editor.
Sir,—Last week occurred one of the too common cases of a boy catting hie foot badly when bathing. Within a few yarde of where this htppened a Councillor ia in the babit of weekly depositing hie rabbiah (which includes a liberal proportion of bottles), and this too at highwater, and within the Borough. What the by-laws cay on the subject I don't know, bat seeing that it is within the knowledge that that part of the beach ia much frequented by children both bathing and boat sailing, one wruld tbink that, legal or not, be would at least refrain from shooting bottles. Whilst on the uubject, I would cay that it is extremely inadvisable that rubbish ehou'd be shot anywhere except in a deep part of the harbor, though many entertain the opinion th»t anything may be got rid of at low water mark, but this is even a more dangerous place, since broken glass shot there remains a permanent unseen danger to bathers wading oat.—fours, etc, HUMANITY. 9th Feb. 1891.
