Ck (IVDED Out.—A mass ot correspondence and other matter is unavoidably held over. Commercial.—The quotations for cocksfoot and dairy produce are unchanged. Outside News.—The Countess of Onslow has ceen safely delivered of a son. MAVOKALTV.—Mr W. Penlington being the only condidate has been re-elected mayor. This is his third teim of office.

Akaroa. Regatta.—A meeting of the Committee takes place in the side room, Oddfellows' Hall on Friday evening next, being adjourned to that date owing to the election addresses.

LITTLE RIVER.-—Mr Barnett addressed the electors here on Thursday evening last at the Maori Hall. There was a good attendance and Mr Coop presided and introduced Mr Barnett, who was very well received. He addressed the meeting on various topics, and was frequently applauded. On the motion of Mr Harris seconded by Mr Gundy a vote of thanks was unanimously accorded to Mr Burnett for his address. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the proceedings.

Electoral. —Mr Barnett will speak in the Oddfellows Hall to-night. On Wednesday evening he will address the Okai i's Bay electors, and on Thursday speak at Little Akaloa, and Friday at Duvauchelle's. Mr Joyce will address the Akaroa electors in the Oddfellows' Hall on Wednesday evening next. Mr McGregor speaks at Lyttelton to-night, at Teddington on Wednesday, Gebbie's Valley Thursday, and Little River on Friday.

Akaroa Boating Club.—A Committee meeting was held on Friday night in the boat shed. There was a good attendance. A letter was read from Mrs Garwood thanking the club for their letter of sympathy. It was resolved that a first payment ol £20 be forsvarded to A. Norton for the new boat, and that a new set of racing sculls be ordered. The Captain complained of the little practice being done by members and the meeting adjourned for a fortnight.

Head of the Bay Races.—A Comrrittee meeting was held at the Somerset Hotel on Saturday evening. Mr P. O'Callaghan in the chair. After the minutes had been confirmed the following programme of races was drawn up consisting of a Hurdle race of a maiden of equal amount; a maiden trot also of 7^sovs ; A Wainui Cup of l2i-sovs ; a handicap time trol of rosovs ; Publicans' Purse Of Jij soys; Hack Race of Ssovs, and Consolation also of ssovs. The full programme with all particulars will appear in our issue of Tuesday November 25th, and in the mean time all particulars can be obtained of Mr A. Shadbolt, Hon. Sec. or at the office of this paper. The Secretary was instructed to write to Canterbury Jockey Club, and Trotting Association re registering, and to arrange with the Akaroa band for Boxing day. After further routine business the meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chair.

Mr. Barnett at Leßon's.—A correspondent writes that this candidate addressed some 34 electors at Leßon's on Saturday night, Mr G. Crotty being in the chair. At the end a quiet meeting became rather stormy, and eventually Mr Scholes proposed—" That this meeting, having heard Mr Barnett's address, regrets that he still insists on forcing himself on the constituency." The was seconded by Mr J. Moffat. A stranger on the platform who turned out ta be Mr Barnett's secretary then proposed a vote of thanks as an amendment. In reply to a question from some of those present he declared he was an elector, but not of that neighbourhood. Protests were made, but overruled by the Chairman, and eventually the amendment was seconded by Mr J. K. Parsons, put and declared carried by 23 to 15, though the opposition expressed an opinion the 23 was only 12. The stormy gathering was brought to a close by a vote of thanks to the chair. Late Cable News.—Delaney, the Invincible, has been released and sails for Australia. Stanley has handed the reports and log of his rear-guard to the " Times."—H.M.S. Serpent has been lost off the Spanish coast, 175 lives were lost.—A member of the New South Wales Parliament has been expelled for disorder.—Dr. Koch promises to disclose hia method of comsumption cure at a lecture to be given on the 27th inst.—There has been a great panic on the London Exchange, but confidence is now restored.—H.M.S. Serpent went ashore in the night.—Miss Riordan, who shot Professor Bright, has received six years' imprisonment.—lt is said thai Dr, Koch is ill, and that tuberculosis has set in. He has been inoculated with lymph.

H.M.S. Curacoa.—This vessel of war is in Wellington and will visit Lyttelton in December so we may see her at our Regatta. Yacht Race at Lyttelton.—There was a handicap yacht race at Lyttelton on Satm> day between the new yacht Mascotte, the Zephyr, and Myrtle. The Mascotte won the race by 22 minutes in spite of being aground seven minutes.
