BOROUGH ELECTION.

The election for ihe in*vora!ry took place on Wednesday, and considfrable intereßt was evinced, many polling. There were the mual cartoons on Daly's atore, which are now looked upon as being part of a Borough election, t>nt they were not nearly so good as those exhibited on the occasion of the memorable contest not long pist, w'len the vacant chairs of three Crs had to be filled. The mipportera of both parties provided buggies for the convenience of friends, aud tho hoardings were placarded in the ueu-il manner. He thanked the burgesses for having shown such a substantial appreciation of ihe past services of their worthy Mayor. He thought the Borough was fortunate in lnving as il» chief Magistrate a gentleman of such great experience and so highly respected aa Mr Penlingion- That gentleman would fe«l proud indeed when he learned bow splendidly he had been enpported. He begged to move a vote of. thanks to the tinturning Officer. Cr Corbett also spoke thanking must heartily those who had voted for him, and saying he hoped he should have hotter luck next time.
