FRENCH FARM SCHOOL SPORTS.
The annual sports in connection with Mr T. S. Baker's school were held at French Farm, on Tuesday, the 9th inst. There was a very good attendance of ladies and gentlemen from Akaroa and various parts of the harbor, which gave the bay quite an interesting and lively appearance. The boys on a whole ran splendidly, there being no less than 17 entries for the mile handicap flat race, and 13 for the 1£ mile steeplechase, the latter of which is really a reiy difficult event, being over rough country, several gorse fences, and two water jumps. Three cheers for the ladies, and three for Mrs and Mr Baker concluded a most enjoyable afternoon to all.
