Singapore, June 7.
Lord Derby refused the proposal to neutralise the Suez Canal, and informed the Russian ambassador at London, the Porte, and the Khedive, that England determined to disallow warlike operations on the Canal. London, June 7. Lord Northcote reufsed to table a copy of the despatch re Suez Canal on the ground of inexpediency, although he was asked to do so by Lord Hartington. A coailtion Ministry has been formed at Athens. The Tangore, with the Suez mail, arrived at Galle on June 6. June 7. It is semi-officially stated from St Petersburg that the Russian Ambassadors from London, Berlin, and Vienna, are returning to their respective Embassies, not charged with any special negotiations, but with instructions, to re-assert the assurances given by Russia prior to war. jn the Honse of Commons last night Dr.Bourke said that he believed the Powers interested could not concur with the action of England. Sir Stafford Northcote stated that the Government had no desire to impose belligerent rights its only object being to protect the Suez Canal.
